This website was created by a local resident with the idea that more could be done to stimulate local consumers to visit and patronize local businesses and service providers. A desired effect would be to keep shopping money in Loveland, CO and purposely to increase awareness of local, small businesses and professionals.

Also, the aim is to provide a place where these businesses can participate in online marketing -- with emphasis on reaching out to local residents and customers.

We will try to add pro-active methods of communicating with each participating businesses' universe of new and present customers and clients. Static ads and brochures are not what we think are pro-active methods of advertising... We want to communicate directly with customers in many ways... often.

Some History

According to Wikipedia, Loveland was founded in 1877 along the tracks of the Colorado Central Railroad where it crossed the Big Thompson River. Yes, a river runs through it...

It was named in honor of William A.H. Loveland, the president of the Colorado Central Railroad.

In the late 20th century, the economy diversified from agriculture with the arrival of manufacturing facilities by Hewlett-Packard, Teledyne, and Hach, a water quality analysis equipment manufacturer.

The city is south of Fort Collins, its larger neighbor and the county seat. The two cities have been steadily growing towards each other over the last several decades and are considered to be a single metropolitan area by the U.S government.

This city has aggressively expanded its incorporated limits eastward to embrace the interchange of Interstate 25 and U.S. Route 34, and is currently developing the area. In the last decade, the intersection has become a primary commercial hub of northern Colorado, with the construction of shopping centers and the Budweiser Events Center. A new medical center and mall are currently under construction.

Loveland Ski Area is not in the City of Loveland... the ski area is 53 miles west of Denver, 104 miles from the city.

This small town is creeping toward large town

I love Loveland because of its location:

• close to the big city, if you need something
• 45 minutes from a major airport (DIA)
• near the mountains, especially the Rocky Mountain National Park
• lots of lakes
• banana belt: not so hot in summer, not so cold in winter
• traffic is growing, but still not so bad
• great stores (older and newer)
• new hospital is great economic elixir
• outdoor stuff everywhere
• bronze sculptures - one would not believe how many!
• growing economy, bringing new jobs, new structures, new buildings, new restaurants, etc.
• progressive city government
• university really close by
• super schools - really great place to raise kids
  

Councilman Glenn Rousey pointed to an arts magazine that recently named Loveland the No. 2 city in the nation known for its art program — second only to Santa Fe, N.M.
